A Double-Blind Study of Pinazepam in Treatment of Anxiety.






Abstract
A double blind comparison of the clinical effect of pinazepam and diaze^am on anxiety was performed with 64 patients who were diagnosed as anxiety disorders, somatoform disorders and psychological factors affecting physical condition according; to DSM-III.
The results were as follows:
(1) Reduction of the total Hamilton anxiety rating score was statistically significant ii-both pinazepam group and diazepam group. There was no significant difference in the improvement rate between two groups.
(2) The degrees of improvement of the global symptoms reported by doctors and patients were statistically significant in both pinazepam group and diazepam group. There was no significant difference in the improvement rate between two groups.
(3) The side effects were reported in 3 patients(16.70) on pinazepam and 4 patients(25%) on diazepam. They were all well tolerated and the most common side effect was drowsiness.
